Contact Lenses Warnings and Precautions

U.S. Federal Law prohibits dispensing contact lenses without a prescription. As with any product requiring a prescription, there are some risks associated with wearing contact lenses. It is essential that patients follow their eyecare practitioners instructions and all labeling instructions for proper use of contact lenses and contact lens care products. To help minimize risk, the following should also be noted:

DO:

  1. Consult your eye care practitioner for instructions concerning the handling, insertion, removal, cleaning, disinfecting, storing and wearing of your lens(es).
  2. Return to all follow-up visits your eyecare practitioner recommends
  3. Clean, rinse and disinfect lens(es) daily and each time they are removed from the eyes. Lenses stored longer than 12 hours may require cleaning, rinsing and disinfection again prior to use. See your contact lens solutions Package Insert for additional information.
  4. Avoid all harmful or irritating vapors and fumes while wearing lenses.
  5. Handle your lens with care, always washing, rinsing and drying your hands thoroughly first.
  6. Remove your lenses prior to going to sleep, unless otherwise advised by your eyecare professional
  7. Immediately remove your lens(es) and promptly contact your eyecare practitioner if there is any adverse reaction at all such as discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes, sensitivity to light, or redness of the eye.

DO NOT:

  1. Use saliva, tap water, or anything other than the recommended solutions for lubricating or wetting lenses or for any part of your lens care regime.
  2. Do not get cosmetics, lotions, creams, deodorant, or sprays in the eyes or on the lens(es).
  3. Use fingernails, tweezers, or other tools to remove lens(es) from the lens container unless tool is specifically indicated for that use. Pour the lens(es) into the hand.
  4. Wear your lens(es) when using any eye-drops or other eye medication unless so advised by your eyecare professional
  5. Wear your lens(es) for longer than advised by your eyecare practitioner
